You are a therapist and as one you have your hard days too. You are holding a lot for so many people – you carry a double burden each and every day. You carry not only your own issues, but those of your clients as well. It’s hard! I get it, I really do! All your clients get to focus on themselves, but you carry all of their challenges as well as yours.

I know this experience well because, of course, I live it too. I know what it’s like to be exhausted from a tough, heart wrenching session after a hard, tearful session. I know the peril of bringing that emotional baggage from your clients home and how dangerous that can be to your home health.
Here is the thing though, You’re ability to care can’t start and stop with others, it must also extend to you. Your mental health matters, your emotions are valid, and your humanity is present in the work you do. This is why it is so important that you take care of you and your emotional and mental health too!
And I know when you’re looking for a therapist, you’re not looking for just anyone. Yes, I have lots of experience. Yes, I have a lot of training and keep up on the latest like EMDR. But that’s not really what you’re looking for.
The truth is you know all the theories too and you can see a technique coming a mile away. You’re not looking for someone to come at you with a lot of fluff or attempts to look “fancy.” Because really, you probably already know what your biggest barriers are and have some good ideas on how to overcome them.
Therapy for therapists is different.
What you need more than anything is an accountability partner. Someone that cares enough to build a relationship with you so that they can call you out on your bullshit when you need it while still providing the support you need in a way you’re able to receive it.
Therapy for therapists is different because we know the things we should be doing, we just don’t always do them. And that’s where I can help. As therapists we’re so committed to others that we often forget to prioritize ourselves. We don’t make the time to work on our own personal development. But that’s exactly what we should be doing! Because when we’re growing and succeeding and feeling good, we’ll have more positive outcomes in all aspects of our lives.
I want to help you find ways to put yourself first sometimes, so that you can take care of you and be an even better version of you!
